ALITHSA Arsenal High School Boys Tryout Information

ALITHSA Arsenal will be holding a tryout for next season's High School Boys on Sunday, August 8th, 4:00 PM at Leroy Guy Park. We feel that by holding tryouts earlier this will give us the best chance to establish the most competitive teams at a variety of high school age levels, while also giving our players a better opportunity compete for spots on their high school team.

This is our vision for creating teams:

  • Tryout to be held in August (8/8/10) and an additional tryout in early October – Date for the October tryout TBD. We STRONGLY encourage you attend the August tryout.
  • Some players will be invited to accept a roster space after the August tryout.
  • If a player is not offered a space after the August tryout, he will be given a tryout evaluation listing areas for development; he will also be invited back to the October tryout. The October tryout will also be open to any players who did not participate in the August tryout.

All players that are offered a place after the August tryout will not be given specific team assignments until after the October tryout. Why?

  • In the past we have relied on a single tryout session to evaluate players. The additional session will allow us another opportunity to work with players who may have had a "bad" day, or who need to work on some areas for improvement. The early evaluation will also allow players to prepare to compete for spots on their high school teams.
  • Our philosophy going forward is to create the most competitive HS teams possible and to provide all incoming freshman through current juniors the opportunity to tryout and make a team.
  • We will move a player up in age group if his ability befits the move up.
  • As a club, having two tryouts over a 2-3 month period will give ALITHSA's Director's and Coaching Staff the ability to place players accordingly and facilitate growth.

In addition to the above changes, our HS program next year will be more intensive. The program features (included in fees) for next season:

  • Winter Training (Jan-Mar) – one team practice and one skills practice
  • Winter Indoor League (Jan-Mar)
  • Spring Training – three sessions a week inc. one skills practice
  • Spring League Games (Apr-Jun)
  • Tournament play – two tournaments
  • Professional Head Coach - practices, games and tournaments
  • Weekly Speed & Agility session throughout spring season
  • Weekly Goalkeeper training session throughout spring season
  • Special meeting with a Collegiate coach/advisor, Paul Webster, from Elmhurst College to educate players with steps to take on: *Contacting colleges & coaches *Scholarships *Requirements *Possible Colleges to contact… and other pertinent information for players who are looking to play soccer beyond HS
  • Projected cost range: $700
  • Uniforms are not included in projected cost

About ALITHSA Arsenal Travel

The ALITHSA Arsenal Travel Program has committed soccer players from Algonquin, Carpentersville, Dundee, Lake in the Hills, Huntley, Crystal Lake and McHenry. Our teams compete in the NISL and IWSL leagues at the Platinum, Gold, Silver & Bronze levels.

ALITHSA Arsenal Travel provides a more competitive soccer experience for the committed youth of our community. Our primary objective is to develop individual soccer skills for the U8 - U18 player as they learn to successfully work together as part of a team. We also hope to instill a passion for the game in the players as well as the parents, coaches and community.

Due to the competitive nature of the Travel Program, tryouts are required.

ALITHSA Arsenal Travel is run by volunteers who serve as managers and coordinators. The teams utilize professional trainers for all training and to coach games to ensure impartial individual and team development.

Information:

Participating in the Travel Tryouts is NOT a guarantee of acceptance into the Travel program. Your child will be evaluated by independent coaches and trainers, and then assigned to a team according to ability. Siblings will be placed on the same team only if they qualify for the same team. If your child is not playing at a travel level, he will still be eligible to play in our Recreational Program.

Team assignments will be made by the Director of Coaching and the independent tryout evaluators to assure impartiality.

All decisions and team assignments are final, and may not be appealed by the coordinators, coaches or parents.

All Travel teams have professional, licensed trainers for practices and to coach games.

If your child is accepted into the Travel Program, 2009 - 2010 Travel Fees will be $945 - $990 (depending upon age group) for the full year. Girls HS Travel is available in the Fall only, and will be approximately $600. Boys HS Travel is available in the Spring only, the fee will be announced later. Sponsorship monies collected by the individual team will be used to offset that team's final payment. If a team spends more than they have in their budget on Tourneys, it is the responsibility of the individual team's members to collect and pay the additional amounts, not ALITHSA.
