Jimmy Voyles - U10M Coach (Standing Far Left in Picture)

ALITHSA would like to recognize Coach Jimmy Voyles for his "above and beyond" volunteer work.

Some of the comments we received nominating Jimmy included: "Jimmy Voyles is a great coach and works very hard. He has been a very positive and organized leader. He has worked hard to learn more about the game, and has used his guidance and energy to help lead all the team kids to positive experiences in soccer!"

We took a few minutes of Jimmy's time to get to know him better.

ALITHSA:

How long have you been involved in soccer and in what forms?

Jimmy:

I have been an assistant coach and head coach for about 4 years

ALITHSA:

What are the three top things for you as a coach?

Jimmy:

Spending time with my son Dylan and his teammates, watching the kids learn the sport they love, & having fun.

ALITHSA:

What in your view are the top three things for the players?

Jimmy:

Sportsmanship, teamwork and having fun!

ALITHSA:

What can we teach our kids about playing soccer and who is your favorite soccer player (or other sport) role model?

Jimmy:

That you can't win all the time but if you work hard good things will happen.

ALITHSA:

Please tell us about your most special soccer memory or event.

Jimmy:

The look in my sons eyes when I handed him the first place trophy from the ALITHSA tournament and the second place trophy from the Cary tournament.

ALITHSA:

How in your mind can we make soccer in ALITHSA as creative and fun as possible?

Jimmy:

If we could get more parents involved in coaching and in practice.

ALITHSA:

Anything special you would like to share with all of us in ALITHSA about being a volunteer?

Jimmy:

Life goes by so fast, as we get older we need to look at our kids and sometimes just be kids ourselves.
